Peru will have three days of national mourning for the death of former President Alberto Fujimori, as decreed by the Executive Branch this Thursday (12) and published in the official newspaper.
The national flag will be flown at half-mast in all public buildings, military installations, diplomatic missions abroad and government offices in the country.
The decree also establishes that Fujimori’s funeral will receive the honors corresponding to a sitting president.
The days between September 12th and 14th are not considered holidays and work activities will continue as normal.
The remains of the former president will be buried starting this Thursday at the Museum of the Nation and will remain there until Saturday (14) for “those who want to say goodbye to him in person”, announced Keiko Fujimori, daughter of the former president, on X.
“After a long battle with cancer, our father, Alberto Fujimori, has just passed away to be with the Lord. We ask all those who cherished him to join us in praying for the eternal rest of his soul,” Keiko shared when announcing her father’s death on X.
