The candidate of the radical left for his presidency Peru, Pedro Castillo, over nine points difference from the populist right-wing candidate Keiko Fuchimori in the intention to vote in the run-up to the June 6 presidential election, indicated a poll that was broadcast yesterday Sunday.
According to a poll by the Ipsos Institute on behalf of a Peruvian television network, Mr. Castillo has 43% of the vote, compared to 34% for Ms. Fujimori, the daughter of former President Alberto Fujimori, now imprisoned.
According to the poll, 13% of Peruvian voters said they intended to vote white or invalid, while 10% did not express an opinion.
The poll was conducted on April 30 on a sample of 1,204 people and has a margin of statistical error of ± 2.8%, according to the Ipsos Institute.
Mr Castillo, a 51-year-old educator and trade unionist, won the first round of the April 11 presidential election with 18.92% of the vote, followed by Fuchimori (13.40%) in a contest in which 18 candidates, number without precedent.
