Peru: Protesters demand the resignation of the country’s president

A similar mobilization took place in the city of Trujillo (north).

On April 4, a curfew was imposed in the capital and the neighboring port of Cayao, an area of ​​10 million people, following violent riots during transport mobilizations due to rising fuel costs.

The measure came on April 5th, due to pressure from citizens who defied the ban and parliament, where the majority is in opposition.

But riots broke out between protesters and police in Lima that night, with public buildings attacked and shops looted.

On April 4, demonstrations took place in many parts of Peru against rising fuel and toll prices, as well as basic foodstuffs. The government spoke of riots and looting.

On April 6, a protester was killed in the town of Ika, about 300 kilometers south of Lima.

In late March, Castillo, 52, went through a process of ousting by the right-wing Congress, which took the initiative, accusing the head of state of “moral incompetence” and “betrayal.”

He reacted by accusing her of fabricating a corruption case in which members of his environment are allegedly involved.
