Peshkov: These are the conditions for an immediate end to the ‘military operation’ in Ukraine

Russia is urging Ukraine to suspend military action, change its constitution to establish a state of neutrality, recognize Crimea as Russian territory and recognize the separatist “democracies” of Donetsk and Lugansk as independent territories, Russia has said. of the Kremlin Dmitry Peshkov according to Reuters.

Peshkov told Reuters that Russia had told Ukraine it was ready to suspend military action “immediately” if Kyiv fulfilled its terms.

This is the clearest Russian statement so far on the terms it wants to impose on Ukraine to stop what it calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine, which is in its 12th day.

Peshkov said Ukraine was aware of the terms. “They have been informed that all this can be stopped in an instant.”

On the issue of neutrality, he said: “They should make amendments to the constitution, according to which Ukraine will reject any goals to join any bloc. This is possible only by making changes to the constitution.”

The Kremlin spokesman insisted that Russia was not seeking further territorial claims on Ukraine.

“We are completing the demilitarization of Ukraine. We will complete it. But the main thing is for Ukraine to stop its military action. It must stop its military action and then no one will shoot,” he said.

“They should make changes to their constitution, according to which Ukraine will reject any goal of joining any bloc. We have also discussed that they should recognize that Crimea is Russian territory and that they should recognize Donetsk and “Lugansk as an independent state. That’s all,” Peshkov told Reuters.

Russia’s demands were being analyzed as delegations from Russia and Ukraine prepared to meet on Monday for a third round of talks aimed at ending the war.
