Peskov: US responsible for consequences of its move to give Ukraine uranium shells

The Kremlin announced today that the United States will have to account for the “very regrettable” consequences of its decision to provide the Ukraine depleted uranium munitions, which are capable of piercing armor, but are also controversial because of the toxic risk they pose to the military and the population. Their use in the past has “caused an insane increase” in cancers and is therefore “very bad news”, for which “the responsibility rests with the United States”the Kremlin spokesman said Dmitry Peskov.

The representative also stated that the Russia continues to fulfill its role as a guarantor of security in the Caucasus, stressing that the fact that Armenia plans to hold military exercises with the United States next week does not help stabilize the situation in the region, where Armenia and Azerbaijan are massing forces near on the border between the two countries. Dmitry Peskov also said that the US plan to use funds seized from Russian businessmen under sanctions to help Ukraine is illegal and that there will be appeals against such actions.

The Kremlin spokesman added that some Russian businessmen have already appealed against similar actions in some countries, where courts have ruled them illegal.

The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced yesterday, Wednesday, during his visit to Kiev, that Washington handed Ukraine 5.4 million dollars of frozen Russian funds. “We saw this move as completely negative,” Peskov told reporters, stressing that Russia considers any confiscation of Russian funds “unfair,” whether public or private.
