Petrobras and Braskem signed an agreement to identify new opportunities for technological cooperation and circular and low-carbon businesses, aiming at the use of more sustainable technologies and the development of circular products with lower CO2 emissions.
According to a statement from Petrobras, a supplier of raw materials to Braskem, the agreement provides for three lines of action: use of renewable raw materials for the production of more sustainable petrochemical inputs; stimulation of the circular economy in the refining process (using recycled plastic) and a study to assess opportunities to develop a “hub” for the Capture, Use and Geological Storage of CO2 (or CCUS Hub), with the potential to reduce carbon emissions. greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
The agreement with Braskem will last for three years. During this period, the companies will carry out experimental tests up to the pilot scale, with the involvement of more than 30 professionals.
Braskem intends to expand its portfolio, including, by 2025, 300 thousand tons of products with recycled content; and, by 2030, 1 million tons, according to the note this Wednesday (29).
