Less than a week after the new president of Petrobras, José Mauro Ferreira Coelho, reinforced, in the disclosure of its results for the first quarter, the commitment to concentrate efforts on the exploration of offshore oil in the pre-salt polygon, the company announced on the night Tuesday (10th) the conclusion of the sale of onshore fields in Bahia.
In a statement released by the company, the company’s stakes in 14 exploration and production fields, known as Polo Recôncavo, all in the state, were fully sold to 3R Candeias S/A, a subsidiary of 3R Petroleum, specialized in the operation of mature fields.
The transaction was for $256 million, with $10 million paid at the signing of the contract on December 17, 2020, and the remaining $246 million paid on Tuesday.
In an excerpt from the statement, the company explains the nature of the movement.
“Petrobras continues to focus its resources on assets in deep and ultra-deep waters, where it has demonstrated a great competitive advantage over the years, with lower greenhouse gas emissions”, he explains.
Of the 14 fields traded, Petrobras owned 100% of the participation in the concessions of 12 of them, and was the majority operator of another two, with 75% and 80% of each one.
According to the company, the average production of the Recôncavo Pole was 1,321 barrels of oil per day, from January to April this year.
In the same period, the area was also responsible for the daily production of 444,150 cubic meters of natural gas.
