Petrobras confirms the presence of oil in the Co-participated area of Sépia

Petrobras confirmed the presence of oil in the Co-participated area of Sépia, with the drilling of well 4-BRSA-1386D-RJS, in the northwest end of the field. The well is located 250 km south of the city of Rio de Janeiro, at a water depth of 2197 meters, and drilling began on July 31, approximately 3 months after the signing of the contract with the Sépia ECO block consortium (Surplus from the Onerous Assignment).

The effective thickness of the oil column is one of the largest ever recorded in Brazil. The oil-bearing interval was verified through electrical profiles and fluid samples, which will later be characterized by laboratory analyses, informs the company.

The consortium will continue operations to characterize the conditions of the reservoirs found and verify the extent of the discovery.

The Co-participated area of Sépia is composed of the Sépia block, acquired by Petrobras (100%) through the Onerous Assignment Agreement, signed with the Federal Government in 2010, and the Sépia – ECO block, which was acquired in December 2021, in 2nd round of bidding for surplus volumes of the transfer of rights, carried out by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), by a Consortium composed of Petrobras (Operator), TotalEnergies, QatarEnergy and Petronas Petróleo Brasil Ltda., with Pre-Salt Petróleo SA (PPSA) as manager.
