Petrobras announced this Tuesday (19) that it built an oil well in 35 days, a mark that is considered a new time record in the completion of a structure like this in deep waters of Brazil. The previous record had been 44 days in 2021.
According to Petrobras, the completion of the well in record time generated savings of around R$ 40 million for the company, in addition to reducing the exposure time of workers to risk. The reduction in expenses considers savings in logistics expenses and in the rental of rigs, whose daily fee is around R$ 1.5 million.
The well built is part of the Marlim Field revitalization project, which has been in production for more than 30 years in the Campos Basin, with an accumulated 3 billion barrels of oil equivalent since 1991. The well is located 150 kilometers from distance from the coast and 850 meters below the water depth.
According to the state-owned company, the recovery program for the Marlim and Voador fields is the largest recovery program for a mature asset underway in the global offshore industry.
“The project provides for the interconnection of 75 wells and the installation, in 2023, of two FPSO-type platforms (floating oil production, storage and transfer system), with the capacity to produce, together, 150,000 barrels of oil per day ( bpd)”, detailed Petrobras.
