Petrobras’ lag in gasoline drops to 8% and that of diesel to 9%, says Abicom

The gap between the prices charged by Petrobras at its refineries and the international market will significantly decrease as of Friday (11) when the new prices announced this Thursday (10) for gasoline, diesel and Liquefied Gas come into effect. (LPG), informed the Brazilian Association of Oil Importers (Abicom).

After the increases, the lag in relation to the international market in the price of gasoline falls from 20% to 8%, and of diesel, from 24% to 9%, according to Abicom.

After 57 days of freezing, Petrobras increased gasoline by 18.7%; diesel, at 24.9%; and cooking gas by 16%.

The increase comes at a time when Brent crude is operating at around $114 a barrel.

With that, the prospects of a possible shortage of diesel and LPG in the country, as had been speculated, lose strength, but the scenario still does not favor imports, says Abicom, which represents small and medium-sized import companies. The major importers, on the other hand, should continue importing fuels to supply the Brazilian market.

Petrobras is responsible for 80% of the diesel supply in the country, while 20% goes to other companies.
