Petrobras announced this Friday (14th) that it has revised down its 2022 production target due to the sale of part of the Atapu and Sépia fields to the private sector.
According to the state-owned company, the drop will be 70 thousand barrels of oil equivalent (boe) per day in the year.
“The start of production sharing for the FPSOs P-70 and Carioca, in operation in the Atapu and Sépia fields, respectively, will impact Petrobras’ production target disclosed in the 2022-26 Strategic Plan,” the company said in a statement.
The production sharing regime in the fields, replacing the transfer of rights regime, will take effect in early May 2022. In Atapu, Petrobras will have 65.68% and in Sépia, 55.30%.
With this reduction, there was a change in the projection for the average for the year, from 2.7 to 2.6 million boe/d, with a variation of 4% up or down. Oil production and commercial production had a smaller impact, at 60,000 boe/d, but remained at the same ranges, respectively, 2.1 million barrels of oil per day (bpd) and 2.3 bpd, also with a variation of 4% up or down.
The state-owned company maintained its forecast of investing US$ 11 billion in 2022, which should include another production system in each of the Atapu and Sépia fields.
