Petrobras starts production in the Itapu field in December; platform leaves shipyard

The Petrobras P-71 platform left the Jurong Aracruz shipyard, in Espírito Santo, on Saturday for the Itapu field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin, where production is expected to begin in December, the company said in a statement on Monday. fair (17).

The only unit planned by the oil company to come into operation this year, the P-71 will produce up to 150,000 barrels of oil and up to 6 million cubic meters of gas daily. Its peak production is expected to occur by the end of 2023.

The platform, of the FPSO type (floating oil production, storage and transfer system), also has a storage capacity of 1.6 million barrels of oil.

The oil company highlighted that the unit will be the last of the series of replicants, also composed of P-66, P-67, P-68, P-69 and P-70.

“These units have high production capacity, advanced operating technologies and emission reductions, with the same replicated engineering project,” the company said.

According to Petrobras, an example of technology to reduce emissions from replicants is the FGRU (Flare Gas Recovery Unit) system, used to take advantage of the gas generated in the production process and reduce its burning and release into the atmosphere.
