Petros Greek Taverna: good value for money with a Mediterranean menu in SP

Mediterranean cuisine is in fashion. Fragrant, refreshing and healthylet's face it, it fits very well with our tropical country – even so far away physically from the Mediterranean Sea.

São Paulo has good representatives of this cuisine, including the relaxed and attractive Petros Greek Taverna with two units in the Pinheiros neighborhood, both opening in 2023.

Commanded by Leo Marigo It is Hans Scheller who is the son and grandson of Greeks and took the recipes from his grandmother's notebook to the restaurant, the menu is full of options to share, the kind that are delicious to place in the center of the table to snack on accompanied by a Greek wine from the menu.

Among the starter options, we suggest the small portion of crispy fried mini squid (R$ 34); grilled feta cheese with honey and sesame (R$ 28); the “Mezés” dish that comes with the famous Greek pastas and toasted pita bread (R$40); and the artisanal lamb sausage with toasted bread, tomato and red onion (R$ 38).

For those who like salads, the classic and refreshing Horiatiki contains feta cheese, cucumber, red onion, Greek olives, tomatoes and oregano (R$ 39) or the Petros Saláta with a mix of leaves, goat cheese, raw ham, fig, honey and pine nuts (R$52) serves well as a meal for hot days.

In the main section, Moussaká (R$ 62) is one of the most ordered dishes with beef ragout between layers of potatoes and toasted eggplant with bechamel sauce au gratin or, in the vegetarian option, with zucchini and ricotta ragout (R$ 52 ).

The grilled rack of lamb with roast potatoes and mint pesto (R$78) is also great; risoni with meat and tomato ragu (R$49); and the grilled fish of the day accompanied by spanokórizo, a Greek spinach and rice dish (R$62).

During the week, at lunchtime, it offers an executive menu for R$69.90 where the diner chooses a starter option, a main dish and a dessert.

Among the drinks, the focus is on refreshing drinks, which will make you travel to the crystal-clear beaches of Greece. “We've been talking to some of my friends and family there to create recipes based on the ones that were successful this past European summer,” says Hans.
