The Federal Police (PF) and Ibama found a clandestine airfield in Mucajaí (RR). The site was discovered this Tuesday (27) during an illegal mining inspection operation.
A helicopter was hidden under the vegetation. The suspicion is that the aircraft was used to support miners. Its license plate was tampered with and its interior was modified to be capable of carrying loads.
In addition to the helicopter, police found parts, maintenance tools, dismantled aircraft parts and approximately two thousand liters of aviation fuel.
Some of the seized material was destroyed, including the helicopter. No one was arrested.
According to the PF, the agents arrived at the location after setting up inspection points based on monitoring illegal flights that would be responsible for air logistics between mining sites located in the Yanomami Indigenous Land and support points in the interior of Roraima.
