PF and MPT free Paraguayans in work analogous to slavery in MS

The Federal Police (PF) and the Public Ministry of Labor (MPT) reported this Monday (12) that last Friday (9) they freed 30 Paraguayans who were working in conditions analogous to slavery and arrested two people involved in the grooming. of these people in the region of Iguatemi, in Mato Grosso do Sul.

The police and MPT members, after gathering information, arrived at a farm where they found the Paraguayans in degrading conditions working on a manioc crop, living precariously.

As payment, they received “vouchers”, which were spent in an establishment belonging to the recruiter. This situation, according to the investigators, created a vicious circle that prevented workers from leaving the site and returning to their country.

At the PF Police Station in Naviraí (MS), a report was drawn up and those involved were released after the payment of a bond in the amount of R$ 50 thousand, which was determined by the Federal Court.

In addition to the PF and the MPT, the operation had the support of the Civil Police of Mato Grosso do Sul and the Social Assistance of the region of Iguatemi (MS).
