PF and National Force carry out operation against environmental crimes in Amazonas

The Federal Police and the National Force carry out the second phase of Operation Atmosphere, focused on combating environmental crimes in the state of Amazonas.

The task force aims to combat forest fires and deforestation on Union lands. The operation, which took place in the municipalities of Apuí and Humaitá, in the interior of the state, covered around 3,500 km to inspect the affected lands .

According to information from the PF, camps belonging to suspected deforesters were destroyed.

With the resumption of inspections since the beginning of October, and the intensification in strategic locations based on complaints and fines imposed by Ibama, police officers were able to identify perpetrators of environmental crimes.

A blower, three chainsaws and shotguns were seized from the offenders. .

The operation, which takes place at a critical time in Amazonas as it faces severe drought, has no end date and will continue with actions to prevent further environmental crimes.
