Those involved can be held liable for arson and attack on the safety of public utility services, the combined penalty of which is seven years of imprisonment.

In July of this year, three directors of the company Linhas de Macapá Transmissora de Energia (LMTE) were indicted for the crime of compromising the safety or operation of water, electricity, power or heat, or any other public utility service.

The penalty provided is one to five years’ imprisonment and payment of a fine.
