The Federal Police arrested five people suspected of participating in a cargo and truck theft scheme in municipalities in São Paulo, this Tuesday (3).
During “Operation Vitreum”, agents served four temporary arrest warrants and three search and seizure warrants in the city of Barueri, in the interior of São Paulo.
In addition, a fifth member of the criminal association was arrested in flagrante delicto. See the seized items below.
Investigations began in May 2024, when authorities discovered a criminal group operating in the Santana do Parnaíba region and in the interior of the state of São Paulo.
According to the PF, the organization approached parked vehicles, in which the driver was resting, and violently invaded the cabin of the cars.
The victims were taken to prisons in bushes near the locations where the robberies took place. The criminals kept the hostages tied up while they were assigned to vehicles and cargo.
The operation also seized vehicles, restricted caliber firearms, a card machine and other items.
The prisoners were sent to the Regional Superintendence of the Federal Police in São Paulo and may be charged with the crimes of criminal association and robbery.
