This Saturday morning (29), the Federal Police launched an operation against a criminal organization specialized in laundering money originating from gambling, usury, extortion, qualified reception and other criminal offenses, in Feira de Santana, northern Bahia.
The PF executed a home search and seizure warrant issued by the Court of the 1st Criminal Court of Feira de Santana.
Operation Hybris III was coordinated between the Federal Police, the Federal Revenue Service and the FORCE/COGER/SSP/BA Integrated Correctional Force.
The PF action is an offshoot of Operation El Patrón, carried out in December 2023, at which time ten preventive arrest warrants were issued, 33 search and seizure warrants, more than R$200 million were blocked from the bank accounts of those investigated and 26 urban and rural properties were seized, in addition to the suspension of economic activities of six companies.
If convicted of the crimes committed, those investigated may receive maximum sentences that, when added together, may exceed 50 years in prison.
Deputy targeted by El Patrón
In operation El Patrón, in December 2023, state deputy Kleber Cristian Escolano de Almeida, aka Binho Galinha (Patriota-BA), was one of the targets.
According to what was learned, the congressman heads a militia in Feira de Santana, after last year’s operation, the Public Ministry filed a complaint against the congressman to the Bahia Court. He is accused of the crimes of money laundering from Jogo do Bicho, loan sharking and qualified reception.
The state court accepted the complaint and, as a result, Binho Galinha became a defendant.
