PF carries out operation against group that illegally sent 115 Brazilians abroad

The Federal Police (PF) launched an operation this Thursday (11) against a group specializing in the illegal migration of Brazilians abroad. Those being investigated use false documents and are part of a criminal association, according to the PF.

It is estimated that the criminal organization took at least 115 people out of Brazil, including children and teenagers.

According to researchers, most migrants go to the United States, but there are cases of migrants who have already gone to other countries. Based on the analysis of the materials, the PF will be able to confirm the destination.

It is estimated that the criminal scheme made a profit of more than R$11.5 million, as each Brazilian paid an amount of 10 thousand dollars to leave Brazil.

The PF points out that the profits were used to maintain a life of luxury by the criminal organization. During the operation, properties and luxury vehicles, electronic equipment, jewelry, ammunition, documents and cash were seized.

The suspicion is that the criminal organization has used falsified documents with the aim of forming families, thus facilitating illegal immigration. The money from criminal activity was invested in commercial establishments in the city of Ipatinga and in assets often registered in the names of intermediaries.

One of the targets of the investigation is known by the PF as one of the main responsible for the crime of facilitating illegal migration in the Vale do Aço region in Minas Gerais.

In today's operation, eight search and seizure warrants were executed in Belo Horizonte (MG), Ipatinga (MG) and Sardoá (MG). Search warrants aim to obtain new evidence that corroborates existing evidence of document falsification and the promotion of illegal migration.

Those investigated must answer for the crimes of forgery of documents, promotion of illegal migration and criminal association, whose maximum combined penalties exceed eight years in prison.
