This Thursday (24), the Federal Police executed 44 search and seizure warrants issued by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) against five judges of the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso do Sul suspected of selling sentences.
The measures are complied with in Campo Grande (MS), Brasília (DF), São Paulo (SP) and Cuiabá (MT).
According to the PF, the operation called “Última Ratio” aims to investigate possible crimes of corruption in the sale of judicial decisions, money laundering, criminal organization, extortion and falsification of public deeds in the Judiciary of Mato Grosso do Sul.
Based on the PF’s investigation, the STJ ordered the removal of public servants from exercising their public functions, the prohibition of access to the premises of public bodies, the prohibition of communication with people being investigated and the placement of electronic monitoring equipment.
The action has the support of the Federal Revenue Service and is an offshoot of another operation, Mineração de Ouro, launched in 2021, in which materials were seized with evidence of the commission of the aforementioned crimes.
The previous action investigated possible irregularities in decisions by the Court of Auditors of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul (TCE/MS), when judging cases of diversion of public resources through fraud in tenders for State works.
The Federal Revenue Service points out that based on the elements collected in this action, it was possible to identify that lobbyists, lawyers and public servants of great influence met with the authority responsible for the decision so that it would be favorable to them, harming other parts of the dispute which, in some cases, In some cases, they were defeated in cases involving million-dollar rural properties.
“There is evidence of involvement of lawyers and children of authorities. For example, situations were identified in which the magistrate responsible for the decision had already been a partner of the interested party’s lawyer”, details the Revenue.
This previous investigation led the PF to the five magistrates investigated in this action.
