The Federal Police (PF) launched, this Monday morning (16), an operation against suspects of involvement in anti-democratic acts in Rio de Janeiro and in criminal acts against the headquarters of the Three Powers in Brasília on the 8th.
In total, five search and seizure warrants and three arrest warrants are served.
At least one person has already been arrested and the police have seized cell phones, computers and various documents.
According to the PF, those investigated would have blocked highways that pass through the Rio de Janeiro municipality of Campos dos Goytacazes and organized protests in front of the city’s barracks.
In addition, “the participation of those investigated and other leaders in the organization and financing of the acts that triggered the depredation of public buildings and the attacks against democratic institutions that occurred on January 8, 2023”, reported the PF in a note.
“During the investigation, it was possible to collect evidence capable of linking those investigated in the organization and leadership of the events”, said the PF.
The warrants were issued by the 7th Federal Criminal Court of Rio de Janeiro. The PF hopes that it will be possible to identify others involved in the acts from the fulfillment of these warrants.
Those investigated are accused of the crimes of criminal association, violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law and incitement of the Armed Forces against the constitutional Powers.
