PF delegate dies in Mato Grosso after being shot in action against loggers

the delegate of Federal police, Roberto Moreira da Silva Filho 35, died after being shot in Aripuanã, in the Mato Grosso during an action against loggers held on Friday (26).

Silva Filho was head of the police repression against crimes against the environment and historical heritage of the state since September 2021, and was in the corporation since December 2020, always working in the area of ​​environmental crimes.

The operation aimed to combat deforestation in indigenous lands . The death of the delegate was confirmed by the Minister of Justice, Anderson Torres in a post on Twitter.

“It is with great regret that I received the news of the death of Federal Police delegate Roberto Moreira da Silva Filho, who was shot during an operation in Mato Grosso/MT. My condolences to family and friends. Great loss for our PF”, said the minister.

According to information from the Federal Police, the agents were approaching trucks during the night, and one of the truck drivers did not respond to the request to stop, throwing the truck in the direction of the officers’ vehicles, who retaliated with shots.

One of the shots ended up ricocheting and hit the deputy. The area where the operation took place is an indigenous reserve near Aripuanã, a municipality 950 kilometers from the state capital, cuiabá .

According to the National Association of Federal Police Delegates, the case is being investigated by the Regional Superintendence of Mato Grosso.

“During this very difficult time, ADPF offers its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the colleague, who has made the Federal Police so great with his dedication”, says the organization in a statement.
