The Federal Police (PF), with the support of Ibama, closed, this Saturday (2), Operation Draga Zero, to combat illegal mining and environmental crimes in the region of the Madeira River, in the Amazon. There were 12 days of police work.
In all, 302 mining rafts that were operating irregularly were rendered unusable. The PF reported that this was the largest operation of its kind, focused on destroying ferries.
Federal police officers covered about 1,500 kilometers of the river, passing through the cities of Autazes, Nova Olinda do Norte, Borba, Novo Aripuanã and Manicoré, all in the Amazon
The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, took to social media to comment on the operation and congratulated the work of the PF and Ibama agents.
“In 12 days in the Amazon, the Federal Police and partner agencies eliminated more than 300 illegal mining rafts. We are defending the environment, public property, national sovereignty and fighting criminal organizations. Congratulations to the teams for the great work”
