PF dismantles three organizations linked to international cocaine trafficking

The Federal Police (PF) this Tuesday (20) fulfills seven preventive arrest warrants in Brazil, two in Spain and one in Portugal and 80 search and seizure warrants in the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo. So far, eight people have been arrested, seven in Brazil and one in Portugal. Orders to block bank accounts, kidnappings and seizures of properties and luxury vehicles of the investigated group were also issued.

The investigations began in 2017. The PF discovered the entire operation of the organization, from enticing people, preparing suitcases with drugs to buying tickets and accommodation. According to information from the PF, there was still a script followed by the recruits or “mules” until the product was delivered abroad.

The so-called “mules” of trafficking received guidance and most of them pretended to be tourists until they arrived with the cocaine in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. In some cases, they were advised to travel with their own children so as not to attract the attention of the authorities and to deceive the police.

The operation is supported by the Special Operations Center (COPE) and Interpol, in addition to the work of the Spanish, Swiss and Portuguese police and air support from the Military Police (PM).

Those investigated will answer for the crimes of transnational drug trafficking, criminal organization and money laundering, with sentences of up to 33 years in prison.

The operation was named Dupla Risco due to the fact that many of the suspects traveled from Brazil to Europe transporting cocaine and, on the way back from the trip, they brought synthetic drugs.
