The Federal Police (PF) identified and executed a search and seizure warrant against one of the suspects of setting fire to an Environmental Protection Area in the Federal District on September 25th.
The warrant was issued by the 15th Federal Criminal Court of the Federal District and served on Monday afternoon (30).
The 36-year-old man was seen with a second suspect, who has not yet been identified, and was believed to be the driver and owner of the vehicle used to set fire to the area, in the Ponte Alta do Gama region, in DF.
Surveillance cameras in the region recorded the actions of the suspects, who could be seen stopping the vehicle and setting fire to the area. Preliminary surveys indicate that the The affected area could be more than 380 hectares, the equivalent of 570 football fields l.
In September, the PF launched 4 investigations to identify those responsible for the fires that devastated the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, in Goiás, and in regions of the DF, in the National Forest and in the BrasÃlia National Park.
If convicted, the suspects could face more than nine years in prison, for crimes such as causing a forest fire and damaging the conservation unit.
