PF fights diversion of public health resources in the interior of SP

An operation combats the diversion of public resources aimed at the health sector in the city of São João da Boa Vista, in the interior of São Paulo.

Operation Fourth Element was launched by the Federal Police and the Federal Comptroller General (CGU) this Tuesday morning (3). More than 70 servers they carry out 13 search and seizure warrants and one for temporary arrest.

The target of the arrest order is the main person being investigated. According to the PF, he resides in Portugal with a high standard of living which he flaunts on social media.

The investigation finds illegal practices in the management of public resources in an agreement for the management of a health unit, signed in April 2022, between the Municipality of São João da Boa Vista and a social organization.

According to the PF, the transfers exceeded R$50 million with R$14 million in federal resources. A social organization is a non-profit entity governed by private law, created to provide services of a social nature.

The PF and CGU identified signs of misappropriation of public resources through business subcontracting supposedly suppliers of products and services to the social organization.

It was also found high transactions from the organization’s accounts and subcontracted companies for current accounts of the principal investigated and his family members.

Other people under influence, who appear as partners, employees or managers of the companies, they would also have received part of the money.

The investigation also investigates the practice of money laundering through acquisition and registration of luxury vehicles and acquisition of high-end properties. These purchases would be in the name of family members of the leader of the criminal organization.

In addition to court orders, the Court also ordered the seizure of assets and blocking of amounts of R$20 million against people and companies being investigated.

The warrants were issued by the Federal Regional Court of the 3rd Region and are served at addresses of suspected people and companies in Barretos, Bragança Paulista, Franco da Rocha, Mairiporã, Mogi das Cruzes, Santo André, São Bernardo do Campo, São João da Boa Vista , Sorocaba and the capital of São Paulo.

Those investigated may face charges of criminal organization, embezzlement and money laundering. The maximum penalty can exceed 35 years in prison.
