PF holds “trafficking mules” that sent drugs to Europe

The Federal Police launched, on the morning of Tuesday (6), the operation “no show” against a criminal organization that sent drugs from Brazil to France, Portugal and Spain.

According to the PF, the transnational network operated in the states of Amapá, Sao Paulo and Ceará.

The agents fulfill 25 arrest warrants and 28 search and seizure. Interpol was also requested to issue red notifications for fugitives abroad.

The organization used human transporters, called “mules”, to bring cocaine abroad, with stomach capsules, in body cavities or fixation to the body.

The PF says that the practice poses a high risk to the life and safety of flights, and that there have even been records of a “mule” that, under the effect of the drug, tried to open the door of an aircraft at the end, endangering passengers.

A strategy used by criminals was not to attend flights monitored by the authorities to make police action difficult, so the name of the operation.

Investigators will be responsible for international drug trafficking, trafficking association, criminal organization and crime against air safety, with penalties that may exceed 20 years in prison.
