The Federal Police (PF) is investigating the existence of a criminal organization focused on intermediating the purchase and sale of illegal gold and money laundering, sending the ore to other countries.
Two companies from São Paulo (SP), two from Santo André (SP) and one from Balneário Camboriú (SC) are being investigated in the investigation being carried out by the Amapá PF.
On Friday (1st), the PF carried out five search warrants at the addresses and against the owners of the companies, as part of Operation Eldorado.
In the action, the PF seized R$2.1 million in goods and valuables, including three luxury cars valued at R$2 million, R$32 thousand in gold and R$1.2 thousand in pure silver.

The action is an offshoot of Operation Au92, launched in March 2022, which investigated the illegal trade in gold and uranium, with eleven search and seizure warrants and eight preventive arrest warrants served in Amapá, Pará, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo , Rio Grande do Norte and Tocantins.
During the investigations initiated based on the material seized in that action, the PF identified the existence of evidence of a criminal organization made up of companies, which possibly acquire the illicit product through purchase and sale intermediaries, to then nationalize the gold and So, send it abroad.
According to the PF, businessmen are suspected of acquiring gold from African countries, especially Sierra Leone, and nationalizing them, giving a false appearance of legality to products of undeclared origin.
According to investigations, this group had moved tons of gold and stored the ore in custody houses. Those investigated may be held liable for the crimes of usurpation of union assets, criminal organization, malicious reception and money laundering.
