PF investigates international cocaine trafficking from SP airports

The Federal Police launched an operation on Friday (24), which aims to end a criminal association aimed at international drug trafficking.

The group used flights leaving Viracopos International Airport in Campinas as part of the narcotic delivery route in Europe.

According to information from the Federal Police, three search and seizure terms are being fulfilled, in Santa Luzia (MG) and São Paulo (SP), and a pre -trial arrest warrant in São Paulo.

The Federal Police Deputy General in Campinas, Edson Geraldo de Souza, said that the warrant of pre-trial detention was issued to the address of the one who would be the coordinator of this criminal organization.

“This investigated against which we ask for custody is the coordinator, as far as we can find out, based on the information we collected. He is the organizer. He lived in Belo Horizonte throughout the investigation, so Operation calls BH Connection, ”said the PF delegate.

The investigated will be liable for international drug trafficking crimes and trafficking association. The added penalties of these crimes can reach 35 years in prison.

To assist in investigations, the Federal Police say that a high-tech bodyscanner will be installed later this Friday at Viracopos airport in Campinas. The equipment is one of the most technological in the world and the first in Brazil

Investigation

PF’s BH Connection operation began from a arrest in the act in December 2023, where the passenger tried to board a flight to France, with 1.3kg of cocaine in 119 capsules.

After the arrest, the investigation revealed that there was a containing maintenance of the Brazil-Europe drug trafficking route through Viracopos airport, 14 trips were identified in December 2024.

Another 19 trips are under review of the PF at international airports from Viracopos, Guarulhos and Galeão, in Rio de Janeiro.
