The Federal Police Superintendency in Pernambuco launched, this Tuesday (26), six police operations, called “Bad Vibes” and “Network Dilemma”, with the aim of combating the child sexual abuse on the internet.
In collaboration with the Caruaru Federal Police Station, the actions aim to suppress the storage and sharing of digital files containing scenes of sexual abuse of children and adolescents, through messaging applications. The investigations began based on data shared by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a United States federal agency, during an operation carried out in South Africa.
According to the PF, the information obtained by the United States was shared with the Brazilian Federal Police, allowing the identification of cell phones in Pernambuco involved in sharing and storing the material.
From the analysis of the material, it was possible to locate the suspects and comply with the court orders issued. This Tuesday, 40 federal police officers carry out six search and seizure warrants in Recife, São Lourenço da Mata, Timbaúba, Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Caruaru and Olinda.
According to the PF, if investigations confirm the suspects’ participation, they could be held responsible for the crimes of storing and sharing material containing child sexual abuse with penalties ranging from 1 to 10 years in prison.
