PF mega-operation destroys 648 tons of marijuana on the border with Paraguay

An ongoing mega-operation between the Federal Police (PF) and the National Anti-Drug Secretariat of Paraguay (Senad/PY) has already eradicated 216 hectares of drug trafficking, the equivalent of 648 tons of marijuana ready for international drug trafficking, in plantations on the Paraguayan side of the border with Brazil.

From last Tuesday (5) to this Tuesday (12), the police also destroyed 64 “narco camps”, which are structures set up in the middle of the jungle for the harvesting, drying and processing of drugs.

There was also the destruction of 770 kilos of seeds and 105 parcels of soil. At each stage, locations change based on previous intelligence work, with the condition that it is always on the border between Brazil and Paraguay.

This phase takes place in the Paraguayan region of Amambay, bordering Mato Grosso do Sul, in the region of Ponta Porã (MS).

PF agents estimate that the operation dealt a 16 million dollar blow to organized crime focused on drug trafficking.

The data comes from the 42nd phase of the Nova Aliança operation, by the Coordination for the Repression of Drugs, Weapons, Crimes against Property and Criminal Factions (CGPRE) of the PF, which lasts two weeks in total. Six actions are carried out per year and this is the first one this year.

Images obtained by CNN show agents eradicating so-called “marijuana gardens”, which are farms or farms used for illegal cultivation of cannabis, the plant that gives rise to marijuana and its derivatives.
