The Federal Police launched, on Wednesday (19), a operation against a criminal organization specializing in international drug trafficking acting in Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia.
54 precautionary measures are met, 12 of which are pre -trial detention, 20 search and seizure, 21 warrants of kidnapping and blocking of movable property, real estate and values of the investigated and an electronic anklet installation measure.
The warrants are fulfilled in Paraná (in the cities of Cascavel, Toledo, Foz do Iguaçu and Boa Vista da Aparecida) and Pará (Monte Alegre).
According to the PF, the drug came from neighboring countries and entered Brazil by borders with Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul.
The investigation reveals that the group used strategic routes and sophisticated money laundering schemes to hide illicit profits, according to Deputy Robson Petter.
The criminal organization had a consolidated structure in Pará and Cascavel (PR), where it maintained infrastructure for storage and distribution of the drug. In addition, it had a network of financial operators responsible for the movement of illicit resources, ensuring the continuity of criminal activities, the inquiry points out.
“The group mainly trafficked cocaine, using luxury vehicles with hidden compartments (false background) to transport the drug through the border of Paraguay, making it difficult to detect the authorities,” explains the delegate.
Purchase of farms
During the investigations, it was identified that the criminal group acquired several properties in the state of Pará, using them for both money laundering and for possible drug movement, according to the PF.
The scheme used two of the properties named “Vera Cruz Farm” and “Vera Cruz III Farm”. The PF believes it is a reference to Operation Vera Cruz, which dismantled the group in 2012.
The farms are strategically located near watercourses, which indicates the use of drug transport vessels. “In addition, the organization sought to monopolize a strategic river arm, allowing the movement of large amounts of narcotics without drawing attention from the authorities,” says the PF.
The Drug Route
Upon arriving in Brazil, the drug was fractionated in the city of Cascavel, a strategic point in the organization’s scheme. From there, the narcotics went to various states of the country, especially to the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, supplying other organized crime cells.
In Pará, the indications indicate that the drug was internalized by the Amazon River, and that the narcotic entered Brazil from Bolivia. As in Paraná, the load was fractionated on farms located in Monte Claro (PA), before being redistributed to other regions of Brazil.
Investigations began in July 2023 and, throughout the due diligence, at least eight flagrant directly linked to the criminal organization were carried out, five of them involving the transport of cocaine and the others related to the transport of crack and marijuana.
All properties linked to the criminal group, including the 8 farms located in Monte Claro, are being blocked by court order.
Leaders in Germany
Two group members are currently at large in Germany.
The Federal Court of Cascavel (PR) authorized the inclusion of targets in the red diffusion of Interpol, an international request for prison. Diligences were carried out in the European country, but those investigated have not been located so far.
