The Federal Police launched, on the morning of Thursday (3), an operation named “Clandestina Flame” against illegal burning In an area of vegetation in the municipality of Caracaraí, in Roraima, 140 kilometers from the capital Boa Vista.
Three search and seizure warrants and sequestration of assets of the investigated were fulfilled.
The PF began to investigate the case after the arrest in the act of a farm manager in the region in September last year. This action had been motivated by heat alerts identified by satellites and confirmed through the existence of active fire outbreaks in rural areas, without environmental authorization.
The PF uses an air system that oversees burning in the region and is part of the Amazonian plan: security and sovereignty (AMAS) of the Ministry of Justice.
The inquiry indicated that the investigated crime would have economic motivation, related to livestock activity, with the possible involvement of the farm owners.
With the search for this Thursday’s operation, the PF expects to advance the investigations.
The investigated may be responsible for the crime of causing fire in forest or forest, provided for in article 41 of the Environmental Crimes Law (Law No. 9.605/98).
