The investigation by the Federal Police (PF) that led to the arrest of people who were plotting to kidnap Senator Sergio Moro (União-PR) revealed that the PCC managed to gain access to a camera monitoring system set up by the government of São Paulo to recognize a vehicle and identify where it traveled.
The information is contained in a report submitted to the Federal Court of Paraná and shows that criminals were able to use the Detecta program, launched by the government in 2014 to combine monitoring through the use of cameras added to the civil and military police databases.
A dialogue intercepted in a messaging application reveals that the criminals monitored the location of an unmarked São Paulo Civil Police vehicle.
“Partner, I needed to know where this car was from Saturday until today”, writes the suspect in the captured dialogue, which also includes a photo of the truck’s license plate.
“Can you give me a hand? To see it on Detecta there”, he continues.
According to the PF, “we have a clear indication that the investigated have access to data that should be confidential, which allows them to act with ease in the commission of crimes, as they are able to identify vehicles of the security forces”.
A CNN sought the government of São Paulo to comment and awaits return.
