PF says issuing passports has been normalized

The Federal Police (PF) informed this Monday (26) that the issuance of passports was normalized after budget release. According to a note released by the institution, the distribution of documents that were dammed up has started and new requests will be processed after the resolution of previous requests.

According to the PF, the delivery of passports will take place gradually and the status of requests may be consulted online🇧🇷

“The solution to the situation, after budget release, was the result of joint efforts with the Mint, which pledged all available resources to resume the production of passports”, says the statement.

According to the institution, the services remain unchanged at the PF posts across the country.

The issuance of passbooks had been suspended since the last 1st due to lack of funds. Earlier, on November 18, the PF had already suspended the production of new documents for the same reason.

On November 30, the police informed that the Ministry of Economy released BRL 37.4 million for the preparation of new passports. The money was used to meet requests made up to 00:00 on December 1st.

On the last 24th, President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) sanctioned a bill that released R$ 31.4 million to resume issuing passports.
