The Federal Police (PF) is carrying out eleven search warrants and ten provisional arrest warrants in the municipalities of Novo Progresso and Itaituba, in Pará, this Thursday (24). So far, six people have been arrested in Novo Progresso.
Operation “163 Livre”, launched today, represses crimes committed during the blockade of BR 163, which took place at the end of October and lasted until September 7th of this year. The PF is investigating the crimes of attempted qualified homicide and resistance against Federal Highway Police officers, when they were trying to comply with a court order to block the highway.
On that occasion, the police were attacked with stones and the cars were hit by gunfire, which made it impossible to clear the obstruction. Those involved are linked to the existence of a criminal association dedicated to the practice of various crimes, such as illegal embarrassment, qualified damage, attack against freedom of work, disobedience and contempt.
The operation refers to the BR 163 Highway and the repressive action, aiming to add efforts to keep the road “free” from blockages, threats or violence against people who travel on it.
