The Federal Police fulfilled a search and seizure warrant in Novo Hamburgo (RS), at the house of an investigated by disseminate discourses with nazism and xenophobic attacks on social networks and in the city.
Operation Odium, triggered on Tuesday (8), investigates the case based on a profile received on a social network that would be propagating these hate speeches.
The investigations began from an anonymous complaint received by the Federal Police Ombudsman, showing that a printed material containing hatred speech was being distributed in the municipality of Rio Grande do Sul, as well as posters with racist content and nazism apology.
According to the PF, searches in his house aim to prevent the continuity of criminal actions, as well as dismantle extremist cells linked to racist and neo -Nazi themes aimed at disseminating hate speech and violent acts.
Apology for Nazism is a crime based on the 1989 law on racism, which has specific punishment for the use of symbols linked to Nazism. It is a crime to manufacture, market, distribute or convey symbols, emblems, ornaments, badges or advertising that use the swastika or gamma cross for the purposes of disseminating Nazism. The penalty is imprisonment of two to five years and a fine.
PF’s investigated target today has indictments in the Federal Police and the Civil Police, for crimes of racism and apology. The PF points out that he is a strict criminal in this type of crime.
In the search, his cell phone was seized and will serve as the basis for the inquiry. He was not arrested.
