PF sees contradiction in the first report on indigenist killed in Amazonas in 2019

Experts from the National Criminalistics Institute of the Federal Police in Brasília concluded this week the report on the death of indigenist Maxciel Pereira dos Santos. He was killed in 2019 in the Vale do Javari region (AM) and, to date, the killer has not been identified. The case took national proportions after the death of Bruno Pereira and Dom Phillips, in June, in the same region.

The expertise points out that the indigenist was killed with only one shot made by a low-energy firearm, as experts say, which could be a pistol or revolver, whose shot hit the head on the left side and came out the right side.

This result contradicts the report carried out by the Civil Police of Amazonas, which states that the indigenist was hit by two shots and that suggested that a bullet was still lodged in his head. The experts didn’t find any bullets either.

Now, INC experts will analyze security camera videos recorded at the time of the murder, and with that, try to identify those responsible for the indigenist’s death.

Maxciel Pereira dos Santos, 35, was an employee of the National Indian Foundation (Funai) and was shot dead in Tabatinga in 2019. To date, no one has been arrested.

Maxciel’s family carried out an investigation on their own and sent the result to the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), requesting the opening of an investigation, based on the suspicion that Maxciel’s death was due to his work in the fight against environmental crimes. in the Vale do Javari region (AM). This case came to light shortly after the deaths of Bruno Pereira and Dom Phillips.

THE CNN tried to contact the Civil Police of Amazonas, but still no response.
