PF seizes almost R$2 million in action against electoral crimes in RJ

The Federal Police (PF) of Rio de Janeiro seized, on Thursday night (3), almost R$2 million in cash in cardboard boxes inside two vehicles on suspicion of electoral crimes.

According to the PF, the value seized was R$1,859,040.00 in vehicles parked in the garage of a business center located in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

The authorities carried out two search and seizure warrants at the headquarters of two companies operating in Rio de Janeiro. According to the PF, the owner of one of them is suspected of committing electoral corruption and money laundering.

The court warrants were issued by the 188th Electoral Zone of the Electoral Court of Rio de Janeiro and, according to the investigations, the vehicle in which the amount of money was found is for the exclusive use of the person being investigated.

The seized values ​​were sent to the Regional Superintendence of the Federal Police in Rio de Janeiro for further investigations. The case is being investigated as electoral corruption, money laundering and criminal organization.

In a statement, the PF stated that this is the third seizure in actions to combat the practice of electoral corruption this week alone. To date, R$3,929,040.00 have been seized on suspicion of this practice in 2024.
