The Federal Police (PF) and Ibama seized, on the morning of Thursday (1st), a capuchin monkey at the home of player Kayki da Silva Chagas, who played for the Bahia team. The PF investigation is related to animal trafficking.
Police officers served a court order in the municipality of Camaçari (BA), at the residence where the athlete lived until last month, when he was playing for the club.
The agents found in the player’s house “a specimen of the wild species capuchin monkey that would have been bought while he lived in Rio de Janeiro and would have taken him to the state of Bahia”.
“The animal, nicknamed César Pipico, had an exclusive profile on the social network, where he appeared in a diaper and drinking a bottle,” said Ibama in a note.
Ibama also reported that the documentation found was false, and that the animal was “seized and sent to Ibama’s Wild Animal Screening Center, in Salvador, for rehabilitation and possible return to nature.”
Through his press office, Kayki informed that he “acquired the Pipico monkey accompanied by all the respective documentation provided by the seller and which is at the disposal of the competent authorities to provide the desired clarifications”.
Those investigated may respond for the crimes of trafficking in wild animals and forgery of public documents.
