PF seizes more than 2 tons of drugs in operations this Saturday (20)

The Federal Police (PF) carried out two operations this Saturday that resulted in the seizure of more than 2 tons of drugs in Ceará and Rio de Janeiro.

In Ceará, the corporation seized 1.2 tons of cocaine on a boat that was in a fishing boat in international waters. The vessel’s captain and five other people were arrested. According to the PF, it was the largest seizure in the state.

Police also report that cell phones, equipment and documents were also seized. The drug was hidden in the hold of the vessel, which was bound for Europe.

According to the investigations, the boat spent a few days anchored at Cais Pesqueiro do Mucuripe, in Fortaleza (CE), and last week it left with incomplete documents and with the mandatory tracking mechanism turned off, which raised suspicions and allowed the approach of the cops.

Rio de Janeiro

Also in the early hours of Saturday, the PF arrested a man who was transporting almost a ton of marijuana on the Presidente Dutra Highway, which connects São Paulo and Rio. The cargo, weighing 890 kilograms, was in the cabin of the trailer driven by the 40-year-old man. He was caught red-handed.

According to the press office of the PF Superintendence in Rio, federal police officers from the Drug Repression Police Station (DRE) approached the suspect at a gas station on the banks of the Presidente Dutra Highway, at the height of Itatiaia, in the Rio de Janeiro portion of the Paraíba Valley. .

The cargo was seized and taken to the headquarters of the PF Superintendence in Rio, at Praça Mauá, in the center of the state capital. The arrested person was also taken there. According to the PF, the penalty for the crime of drug trafficking, for which the man was arrested in the act, can reach 15 years in prison.
