PF seizes more than R$60 million in assets during operation against tax crimes

The Federal Police seized properties and vehicles valued at more than R$60 million during an operation this Tuesday morning (12) in the state of São Paulo. In conjunction with the Federal Revenue Service and the Municipal Treasury of São Paulo, 15 search and seizure warrants are being executed in the cities of Guarujá, Itu and Indaiatuba and in the capital of São Paulo.

According to the investigations that formed the basis of “Operation Latus Actio”, crimes against the tax system and money laundering were being committed by individuals linked to companies in the entertainment and auto parts sectors in the state of São Paulo.

In addition to the search warrants, court orders were issued to block amounts in the bank accounts of the individuals and legal entities investigated up to the approximate limit of R$1 billion, as an attempt was made to conceal the origin, destination and nature of the amounts moved. by those involved.

According to the police investigation, launched in the first half of 2022, suspicious financial transactions were being carried out in bank accounts of individuals and companies. The objective was to move and hide resources of illicit origin and not declared to the Tax Authorities. The police identified several transactions, credit and debit, with third parties and fictitious or shell companies, some of them linked to individuals with extensive criminal records for crimes such as drug trafficking, crimes against property and criminal organizations.

Only one of the businessmen investigated was fined by the Federal Revenue, in the year 2023, for amounts exceeding R$43 million.

The searches and seizures carried out this Tuesday aim to collect more evidence of crimes against the tax system, money laundering and other crimes.

The Federal Revenue will initiate new tax actions, this time against legal entities, one of which is a beneficiary of the Events Sector Emergency Resumption Program (PERSE).

The São Paulo Municipal Treasury will launch 21 tax operations against companies investigated in the police investigation, in light of evidence that also points to Service Tax (ISS) evasion.
