The Federal Police (PF) arrested a passenger with a suitcase containing a false bottom, where he was illegally transporting a significant amount of dollars: 300 thousand (about 1.5 million in reais).
The arrest took place at the international airport of Foz do Iguaçu (PR), on Monday night (6).
After a routine inspection, the police checked suspicious luggage and identified the owner, a Korean, merchant in Paraguay, who would be traveling to Seoul, South Korea.
When inspecting the luggage, the federal police found several packages with foreign currency notes, camouflaged in a false bottom.
The passenger was taken to the PF police station in Foz do Iguaçu to be caught in the act and will be charged with the crime of tax evasion, which is punishable by 2 to 6 years in prison.
According to the PF, the detainee did not inform, until then, the origin of the money. A CNN seeks contact with the defence.
