The Federal Police launched, on the morning of Wednesday (2), Operation White Coffee to dismantle a criminal association specializing in international drug trafficking . The action aims to interrupt the group’s activities and deepen investigations into other possible involved.
In all, 40 federal police officers play 8 pre -trial detention warrants and 11 search and seizure warrants in Campinas, Santo Antônio de Posse and the state capital. The orders were issued by the 9th Federal Court of Campinas. So far, five suspects have been arrested.
The investigations began on September 4, 2024, after a seizure by the 1st Baep of the Military Police of the State of São Paulo. At the time, a clandestine drug laboratory was discovered on Francisco Glicério Avenue in Campinas. During the operation, two men were arrested while trying to send a pound of cocaine to Italy, hidden inside thermos.
Analysis of seized devices, written documents, telematic data and financial records revealed a sophisticated group, which specializes in the preparation, packaging and concealment of drugs to ship abroad.
The narcotics were sent to Portugal, England, Italy, Germany, Denmark and Dubai, hidden at aerial orders with ordinary objects to make customs supervision difficult.
The investigated have shown high technical knowledge in the chemical manipulation of the drug, including Fentanil, as well as using a facade company to mediate the remittances.
The group also operated with sophisticated accounting to maximize profits and employed a ciphered language, highlighting their stability and organized structure.
In addition to the arrests and searches, the court ordered the blockade of assets and values of the investigated. Suspects will be liable for international drug trafficking, association for trafficking and money laundering, crimes that, added, may result in penalties more than 40 years in prison.
The name of the operation, White Coffee, refers to the term “coffee”, used by criminals as a code for cocaine in their confidential communications.
