The Federal Police (PF) will send humanitarian reinforcements this Friday (3) to the tragedy caused by heavy rains in Rio Grande do Sul.
There will be three speedboats, two helicopters and teams of police officers trained in disasters. An aircraft has already been sent, but is having difficulty landing, according to members of the PF. The other will still be moved.
The boats will be used to rescue stranded people where their homes have been flooded. And go to places that are difficult to access, due to blocked sections of the BRs.
The efforts are part of the federal government's task force with all agencies for humanitarian aid to victims of the storms in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Federal Highway Police (PRF), Army and Navy are also cooperating.
The latest bulletin from the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul showed 37 people dead and 74 missing in Rio Grande do Sul. There are also, to date, 7,949 people in shelters, 23,598 homeless and a total of 351,639 affected.
As part of the efforts, the federal government will set up, this Saturday (4), an office in the state to monitor interministerial actions and the impacts of the flood. According to the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, the office will facilitate monitoring and face-to-face actions by the federal government and should start operating from Monday (6).
