Pfizer had net income of US$ 3.39 billion in the fourth quarter of 2021, quadrupling the gain of US$ 847 million in the same period of 2020, according to a balance sheet published on Tuesday (8).
With adjustments, the American drugmaker posted earnings per share of US$ 1.08 between October and December, far surpassing the forecast of analysts consulted by FactSet, of US$ 0.87.
Pfizer’s revenue jumped 105% year-on-year in the quarter to $23.84 billion, but was below the market consensus of $24.16 billion. For 2022, the company forecasts adjusted earnings per share of $6.35 to $6.55, also below FactSet’s forecast of $6.71.
At 9:04 am (GMT), Pfizer’s share was down 3.6% in premarket business in New York. In partnership with the German BioNTech, Pfizer is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of vaccine against covid-19.
