Philippines: “Agaton” storm deadly – 24 dead from floods and landslides

The Philippines pounding the tropical storm “Agaton” – while “Malakas” is also expected– and so far 24 people have been killed by floods and landslides, while more than 13,000 have been forced to flee their homes.

As reported by French Agency floods and landslides occurred mainly in the central and southern Philippines, with more than 13,000 people rushed to emergency shelters as well the storm flooded houses, fields and destroyed roads and power lines.

Also, the natural disaster management officer in the city of Bebei, the Rice Austero stated that the central province of Leite suffered the most damage, with landslides killing 21 people in four villages.

Photos posted on Facebook show many houses in Bunga villageone of the worst affected in the province of Leite, covered with mud up to the roofs.

Three other people died at Mindanaoan island in the southern Philippines, the National Disaster Management Agency announced earlier.
