Philippos of Greece e Nina Flohr they said “yes” again. The fifth son of Constantine II, the last king of the Greeks, and the Swiss heiress celebrated their second royal wedding Saturday October 23, thus realizing the dream of crowning their love story with a ceremony in grand style. To celebrate them, in fact, there was the elite of the European aristocracy, many crowned heads forced to give up on the occasion of the civil wedding of the two, celebrated in December 2020 in Saint Moritz, at the height of the Covid-19 era.
For the religious rite Philippos and Nina chose the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Annunciation, in Athens, the largest church in the city, and not only because of the large number of guests: right here, in 1967, King Constantine said “yes” to Anna Maria of Denmark, (she is the sister of Queen Margrethe II, ed) last reigning queen of Greece. A way to underline the link with the land of the ancestors, although Philippos, 35, was born in London as a result of the exile that until 2004 affected the royal family.
For the occasion, Nina, Swiss heiress daughter of Thomas Flohr, founder of the airline VistaJet and of Katharina Konečný, editor of Vogue Russia and creative director of Fabergé, wore a sumptuous silk and taffeta dress by Chanel and the Antique Corsage Tiara, given to Anna Maria of Denmark by her mother Ingrid on the occasion of her 18th birthday.
To celebrate the bride and groom, guests from all over Europe arrived. From London, for example, Eugenie of York with her husband Jack Brooksbank and sister Beatrice with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, great friends of the bride, but also representatives of the Windsor family, always linked to the royalty of Greece.
Philippos has the late Philip of Edinburgh among his godparents, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, and Lady Diana among the godmothers.
There were also the emeritus queen of Spain, Sofia, sister of Constantine II and therefore aunt of the groom, together with one of the daughters, the infanta Elena, Andrea Casiraghi with his wife Tatiana Santo Domingo and, representing the Hanoverian family, the prince Christian with his wife Alessandra de Osma and the older brother Ernst August (namesake of his father, ed) and his wife Ekaterina.
A full-blown royal wedding, in short, as they have not seen for a long time.
