Civil police from the 78th DP (Fonseca) triggered an operation on the morning of Friday (16) to fulfill search and seizure warrants at addresses linked to the Armando Marins, investigated for the death of a patient after an aesthetic procedure to treat varicose veins. The professional is also former councilor from São Gonçalo, a municipality neighboring Niterói, where the warrants were executed.
The agents were at the clinic where the doctor worked and at his residence, both located in Niterói. Several materials were seized and will be analyzed by the investigators.
According to police, there is strong evidence that the procedure, performed in March, was used by a due and possibly violated medicine. The substance would have caused a widespread infection in the patient Priscila dos Santos Nascimento, 42, leading him to death.
In addition to suspicions about medical conduct, agents investigate whether there was an attempt to obstruct the investigation. According to information from the 78th DP, the doctor, with the support of clinic officials, may have tampered with medical records, in a possible attempt to cover failures and manipulate evidence related to the case.
